Cooktown County Golf Club is constructed on a natural sand belt. With dual tees, the course has been built in tropical bushlands with the imposing Mount Cook as a backdrop. The natural beauty of the surroundings make this links type course a must for golf adventurers and holiday hackers alike. Boxes and greens are well presented all year, but be aware that as this is the most northern golf course on the East Coast, the wind in the dry season funnels up from the south east and blows around 20 knots most days.

SHERATON MIRAGE COUNTRY CLUB, PORT DOUGLAS

A superb championship golf course situated by Four Mile Beach and part of the Mirage Resort located in Port Douglas. Designed by renowned golf architect Peter Thomson and rated as one of the world's leading resort courses. This course has hosted several top professionals such as Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus (not to mention Bill Clinton!) and is home to the famous skins game. It contains the unusual combination of 6 x par 3, 6 x par 4 and 6 x par 5 holes. Expect a luxurious resort style golf course set in tropical rainforest with manicured fairways winding around the resort, and glimpses of the Coral Sea on some holes. This characteristic outback golf course is built astride Silverlena Creek, a tributary of the Leichhardt River. Although the creek itself is usually dry, the water course allows for the growth of majestic, picturesque stands of gum trees lining the the grass fairways.
The Mount Isa Golf Club hosts the City of Mount Isa Open Golf Tournament in July each year which attracts golf professionals playing for prize money and over 100 amateurs shooting for trophies.
The air conditioned clubhouse has full bar and kitchen facilities, open from 9.00am, with seating for 120. Club house is closed on Mondays.
