The world record barramundi (121cm and 38.75kg) and the world record sooty grunter (5.45kg) have been caught in Lake Tinaroo. Barramundi can be caught all year round as this is a stocked impoundment that is not subject to seasonal closures, but November to March are best. Other species include sleepy cod, archer fish, bony bream, saratoga, and silver perch, and recent releases of mangrove jack fingerlings will see them maturing as good target species over the next few years.
